GAMEPLAY

Battle for Sky Fortress is available in two game modes, 5vs5 PvP and up to 6 player Coop (difficulty scales to the number of players).  We decided to publish these maps separately because I'm not happy with how variants work on Battle.net, they are a bit flakely.

Co-op is published under the name: Battle for Sky Fortress Co

PvP is published under the name: Battle for Sky Fortress VS

PvP Mode

VS Game ModeThis is the original PvP game mode which now supports up to 5v5 players for competitive gameplay.

(For unbalanced teams there is a slight balancing of the unit waves, with a +10% health bonus per player difference)

Please note as this game was recently released, there will be some balancing required.  You can help us with this by providing feedback over at the forum.

Co-op Mode

Co-op mode gameplay puts you up against an army of Titan class units, in addition to the normal wave units.

In this mode you use the same map as PvP, but play cooperatively with up to 6 players.  It's a great way to learn the game before stepping up to PvP, and can really be fun in it's own right.

Not only do you go up against the standard Thor, Stone and Odin Titans, but you also come up against the *co-op exclusive* SuperTitan class units such as the Ultrabot, and his sidekick Supertank (you might see supertank over the next week or so).

Co-op mode also features 4 difficulty levels Easy, Medium, Hard and Insane, and we will soon be adding a new "Team Lives" difficulty option where you can specify the number of lives your team gets, making reviving team mates really important.

We also have an awesome "Invasion" planned to keep the co-op mode interesting, stay tuned for more information about that.

The Map & Objective

The game is played out on a 3 Sector, inverse expanding map (it grows outwards for both teams).  The same map is used for both Co-op and PvP modes.

Your main objective is to destroy the enemy teams Base in Sector 3.  To do this you first need to destroy the Sector 1 and Sector 2 base to open the next sector.

The way the sectors open introduces some very interesting mechanics, and gives the team on the back foot a great opportunity to push back each time a sector base is destroyed.

It's very important to take advantage of that short period where your your stronger units are fighting by your side, but the enemies are still further away - we call this riding the wave.

Calldowns

You can spend credits you earn during the game on calldowns at the shop. This includes structures such as turrets, units including Titans and Orbital Strikes such as Nukes.

During the game you need to carefully decide on the best way to spend your credits, and which calldows will benefit your team.

Once you purchase calldowns from the shop, you will need to place them on the battlefield using the buttons at the bottom of your HUD.

Hacking

Another interesting feature is hacking.  There are two types of hacking available, Hacking Tools which anyone can purchase from the shop, and Remote Hacking which is an ability that only Tosh and Nova heroes get.

Hacking Tools can hack basic structures such as the wave spawn buildings, security gates and the bridges at the top of Sector 3.

Remote Hacking can hack everything Hacking Tools can, but can also hack Auto-Turrets, G.A.T's and enemy Titan units.  In addition to this, you can hack safely from a longer range - however it takes longer to hack than hacking tools.

(Tip: Keep an eye out for your team mates hacking enemy Titans, so that you know not to try and bring them down!)

Team Work

Team work is very important to achieving victory over your oponent, and you can't rely on your Hero abilities alone.  Players will need to decide where best to invest their income, whether it's on improving their hero's weapon, or supporting the team by calling down structures, or calling down Titans to help your wave push forward.
